My Delhi Visit...

My Delhi Visit
This weekend was spent doing something different. I went on a Delhi trip. Looking at places that are nearby and are worth a visit. This time my colleagues from TCS were accompanying me.
Left Gurgaon at 10.30 in the morning. And after doing the Milk run process of picking up people, we reached Qutub Minar. I liked it the last time I had been about 6 ½ years back. But now I liked it more. ASI had taken good care of the place. After about 2 hours at the small place, next stop was Lotus Temple – Bah’ai Temple. A nice place again. Spent about an hour there.
The Afternoon schedule consisted of places that I had not been to ever. We went to Jama Masjid. The market of Jama Masjid is just out of this world. I would never say I was in India at all if anyone had ever asked me. The thin lanes and crowded streets were unlike of Delhi. But the truth is that is the heart of Delhi, the true soul of the capital of India. After venturing across the market searching for the famous Karim’s Hotel, we managed to find it. Its an awesome place. The way this hotel has made into the pages of history is commendable. The hotel has been thriving in this part of Delhi for the past nine decades. A visit to their site is sure worth the time (not for the great graphics, but for the menu listing and the “About Us” section). Next stop Jama Masjid. Unfortunately, I did not take the camera when we were there (Thanks to the wrong information given by our Taxi driver). After spending a few minutes at the Mosque we walked back towards our car through the thin and crowded lanes.
The evening was well spent at India Gate. It’s a huge structure with lots of people around. Wouldn’t say it was any architectural marvel, but nevertheless looked good. About 30 minutes later we were on our way back to Gurgaon. Ended up with a bad headache, bought 3 novels of Dan Brown and took lots of photographs. After the comments passed by Alex over my earlier posting of my handsome solo-snaps, I am reconsidering the decision of posting the fotos on the blog site. By the way have to convey a big Thanks to Alex, for lending his camera without which, the snaps and the memories that they will help me carry would have been impossible.
Signing off for the day. Adios.
